6th Grade General Music composition

This is a MixCraft composition created by the 6th Grade General Music class on Friday may 13, 2011.  Most agreed it felt like background music for mischief, and so entitled it “Thug Tune.”  It’s available for download here:

Treble Staff Note Names

Don’t forget – the names of the notes on the treble clef are easy to remember if you memorize these two simple clues:

For the lines, from bottom line to top line: “Every Good Boy Does Fine.”

For the spaces, from bottom space to top space: “F-A-C-E”

You can keep from mixing up lines and spaces by rhyming the clues: “Every Good Boy Does Fine (on the lines),” and “FACE goes in the space.”

Atlanta Symphony, Here I Come…

The ASO and Chorus under Donald Runnicles

Okay,  this is pretty cool for a chorus nerd like me.  I just got invited to join the 211-voice Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus.  I’ll get to sing some of the most famous choral music with an internationally famous orchestra and chorus (it’s won 14 Grammy awards!) under some very impressive conductors, and I can’t wait! Of course, EJMS comes first always – this is something I’ll do in the evenings and on weekends, generally.

Check out the ASO and the ASO Chorus here for more information, pics, and concert dates:

Welcome to the EJMS Chorus Site!

Hello EJMS Parents and students! You’re looking at the EJMS Chorus website. Actually, technically, it’s a blog, but it will serve just fine for now. On this site, I’ll be posting everything from homework help to pictures of our performances to (hopefully) rehearsal tracks for practice and lots more. I will also throw in cool stuff from the chorus and music world that you might find interesting.

Eventually, we will have a fully-fledged web site with our own URL and hosting, but this is free, it’s quick and easy for me, your director, to keep up with, and I think it looks pretty nice.

You’ll want to check here from time to time for updates, news, announcements, and other important information. You may even hear me say in class, “Check the blog for blah-blah-blah…” That means here.  🙂

While you’re here, check out the stuff on the right – I’ve already posted some links and things that you might like.

Finally, please let me know if you have questions about the site or ideas about stuff I should post or share on hear. Parents, this goes for you, too. This is OUR Chorus, and OUR Chorus Website. Let’s take advantage of it!
